Curanus GmbH -
Industry solutions certified by the German Technical Control Board (TÜV)

Since 1 January 2009 Curanus GmbH has offered its customers within the Reclay Group six industry solutions in accordance with § 6 section 2 of the German Packaging Ordinance [VerpackV], new version. These are entitled:

  • Reclay-Food
  • Reclay-Care
  • Reclay-Construction
  • Reclay-Business Services
  • Reclay-Automotive
  • Reclay-Green

All Curanus industry solution concepts are certified by the German Technical Control Board, TÜV Rheinland. They fulfil the criteria of the 5th amendment of the German Packaging Ordinance [VerpackV] and the benchmark paper that was specified by the federal states, and therefore offer all prerequisites for the operation of industry solutions. The necessary certification in accordance with the Packaging Ordinance was received by all state environment ministries on schedule together with the TÜV certificates.

Curanus therefore offers its customers a complementary service to the dual disposal systems which – following a careful analysis of the packaging portfolio – enables substantial cost savings to be achieved in some areas of packaging disposal.

Since 2004 Curanus has operated a self-disposal group which focuses on the food sector in accordance with § 6 sections 1, 2 of the German Packaging Ordinance [VerpackV], old version. This self-disposal system was adapted to the new requirements with the aim of continuing to offer manufacturers and distributors an alternative to the system participation obligations pursuant to § 6 section 1 of the German Packaging Ordinance [VerpackV]. The industry-based collection structure that has been required since 1 January 2009 is provided by the existing network of the previous Curanus self-disposal solution, with more than 40,000 waste generation sources.

Precisely tailored, customer-specific concepts, the painstaking selection of disposal partners and extensive quality measures will guarantee that all requirements stipulated by the Packaging Ordinance will be fulfilled for Curanus customers in the future, too.

Stability instead of collapse: Statistics for 2009 from declaration of completeness confirm BDSD forecast

“That is good news from Berlin. Ever since it was established, the BDSD has taken the position that, if the market participants behave sensibly, the 5th amendment of the German Packaging Ordinance will take effect and the market will stabilise,” commented Raffael A. Fruscio, president of the Federal Association of Dual Systems in Germany (BDSD – Bundesverband Dualer Systeme Deutschland e.V.), following publication of the statistics for 2009 from the declaration of completeness by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce Association (DIHK – Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag).
